Humane’s AI Pin is available to buy today. TechCrunch reported the hardware at $699, colour options from $799, and a mandatory $24 monthly subscription, with three months included (TechCrunch, 11 April 2024). Humane’s own launch release describes a dual-microphone pin with a projector, a 13 MP camera, an eSIM and a Trust Light driven by a dedicated privacy chip (PR Newswire).
Read that list against the rest of this beat. The Pin is not a recorder you start for a meeting. It has no wake word, which is a genuine privacy design, and it also means it will not capture a conversation you did not initiate. LTE without a phone is a real distinction: nothing else announced this year claims to work if you leave the handset at home.
The cost is the other distinction. As of today, year one is the hardware plus twelve months of $24, before accessories. Humane is selling a complete system with a Battery Booster and a Charge Case. The subscription lapses and the hardware stops being a computer. That is a product shape, not a pricing footnote.
Whether the Pin belongs beside Plaud’s card is a scope question this desk will keep open. A phone replacement with a camera is not the same job as a meeting recorder. It is still the most expensive wearable microphone that actually shipped this week, and the AI Pin page will carry the sourced figures rather than the keynote.
