Humane’s consumer AI Pins stopped functioning at 12pm PST on 28 February 2025. Remaining user data was deleted. That is the whole story, and it is the only fact that now belongs at the top of the AI Pin page.
Ten months after launch, the device that was sold as a phone replacement is a piece of jewellery that does not boot into a service. HP’s asset purchase last week made this ending the expected one; the clock is what makes it a filing. A privacy architecture with a dedicated chip that would shut the Pin down if the Trust Light were compromised did not have an answer for the vendor shutting the Pin down on purpose.
Owners who kept paying $24 a month were not paying for features. They were paying for the object to exist. The April reviews were about latency and heat. This is about a class of product — cloud assistant as hardware — whose failure mode is a calendar invite.
The sourced specifications remain worth keeping: dual microphones, no wake word, LTE, a projector, reviewer-measured battery around four hours, Charge Case recalled, launch at $699, later $499. They describe a device that shipped. They do not describe a device you can buy, and they do not describe a device that works. This ranking only orders shipping hardware. The Pin leaves the order and stays in the archive, because the next always-connected wearable will ask the same question and deserves a dated answer.
