Four days after Humane put the AI Pin on sale, Limitless (the company formerly called Rewind) announced a pendant whose job is the opposite of a phone replacement. It records the room. The Verge quoted CEO Dan Siroker on the battery: “Siroker says its battery lasts 100 hours” (The Verge, 15 April 2024).
A hundred hours of continuous capture, if it holds, is a different product from Humane’s four-hour pin and from Plaud’s card that you remember to start. It is also a different consent problem. Limitless is building for 24/7 capture with a visible recording LED. That LED is the actual product thesis: the people around you are supposed to be able to see that they are in a recording.
The Pendant is not shipping today. The announcement is a claim about a device that will clip to clothing or hang on a cord, buffer speech on the device, and turn the day into a searchable lifelog in Limitless’s cloud. As of this announcement there is no public microphone count and no published weight. Those omissions are already more informative than another rendering.
Two products now sit at opposite ends of a category that did not have ends last month. Humane’s Pin is a deliberate-touch assistant that wants to replace your phone. Limitless’s Pendant is a microphone that wants to remember your meetings. Plaud’s Note is still the thing you can buy that does the meeting job without hanging on your chest. The Limitless Pendant page will stay empty of a battery figure if that 100-hour claim does not survive contact with a specification sheet.
