Plaud puts its software on a pin you can wear four ways

Plaud has an answer to the objection that a MagSafe card only records the meeting you planned. The NotePin is a wearable capsule with two MEMS microphones and four mounts in the box: magnetic pin, clip, lanyard, wristband. Preorders opened today at $169, with Amazon listed for November (launch release; The Verge, 28 August 2024).

That is not a discount on the Plaud Note. The pin gives up the Note’s voice-pickup unit and phone-call recording, and Plaud quotes 20 hours of recording against the Note’s 30. What it keeps is Plaud’s transcription stack and a tap to start, so the device is not an always-on mic. The Verge’s launch piece is explicit: Plaud does not intend the NotePin to run continuously.

That is the right default for a lapel capsule in a room of people who did not buy it. It is also why this is not a Limitless competitor. The Pendant’s job is the day. The NotePin’s job is the meeting you started on purpose, on something you actually wore.

The Plaud NotePin page will carry the mounts, the LED and the missing call-recording mode as specifications, not as lifestyle copy.
