The Verge published a hands-on of Sandbar’s Stream Ring from the company’s New York office, next to Pebble’s now-shipping Index 01 (The Verge, 28 July 2026). CEO Mina Fahmi dictated into Apple Notes at a whisper, then — after a firmware flash — into a Mac and an iPhone in turn. The reporter could not hear the speech. Sandbar still would not explain the transport.
That demo is the strongest independent description of Stream we have, and it is still a demo. Batches one through four are sold out; shipping remains a later-in-2026 sentence on Sandbar’s store. The Verge piece does not fill in weight, battery hours, microphone count or storage, because Sandbar has not published them.
The comparison The Verge wants to make is input, not capture. Stream: hold the touchpad, whisper, text appears in the field you were already in. Index: hold a button, speak to the ring, get a note in Pebble’s app. One is trying to be a keyboard. The other is trying to be a capture button you will actually press. Neither is Plaud’s meeting card.
Until Stream reaches a customer, it stays on the unranked shelf with the rest of the preorders. The Stream Ring page will cite this Verge visit for whisper mode and keep “all-day battery” labelled as unpublished hours. The Index 01 is the ring you can buy this week.
