Battery hours in this category are not a unit. They are a sentence about what the device is doing while the number is counted. Always-on capture needs a cell that survives the calendar. Tap-to-record needs a cell that survives the meetings you started. Putting Bee’s 160 hours next to Plaud’s 30 without that clause is how a week and a project look like the same spec.
Bee’s Pioneer is the extreme: 160+ hours, about seven days, on a device whose default is continuous capture (Bee Pioneer). The number has to be that large or the log has overnight holes. WIRED was told at CES that even a green capture LED was a threat to that budget (WIRED, 8 January 2025). Endurance and consent were traded in public.
Omi’s current FAQ is 10–14 hours from 150 mAh (Omi product). That is a nightly charge on an always-on pendant, which is a different lifestyle than Bee’s week and a different honesty than Omi’s own three-day CES interview. Limitless travelled the same road in reverse: 100 hours at announcement, “a full day” and charge every night in the FAQ, then the SKU died.
Tap-to-record can look worse and last longer
Plaud’s Note and Note Pro quote 30 hours of recording, plus days of standby. The card in a bag is not listening. Twenty hours on the NotePin is still a heavy meeting day plus idle. Vocci’s eight hours of continuous recording on a ring is a working day of tap sessions, not a week of ambient log, and the case holds extra charges (Vocci tech).
Score the friction, not the larger integer. Methodology defines battery as real continuous-capture endurance and how much recharge friction it imposes. Bee imposes almost none if the 160-hour claim holds. Omi imposes a plug every night if you actually leave it on. Plaud imposes a plug between projects. Vocci imposes a case on the desk.

Headline hours that only hold in a reduced mode belong in a caveat. The Note Pro’s 50-hour figure is Endurance at 3 m. Pebble’s 12–15 hours, when that ring ships, will not be a cycle at all. Those are separate lies from the always-on versus tap confusion, and they get their own notes. The confusion that remains, even with honest numbers, is comparing a week of listening to a day of recording and calling it a winner.
